stevens favorite

I am trying to nail down just when the Stevens Favorite extractor moved from the seven o'clock position in the receiver to the six o'clock position. Perkins says Stevens changed the design in 1898. DeHass says it moved "in about 1901". Anybody have more information??

    Can anyone tell me which model Favorite had a knurled ring around the barrel at the chamber end threaded to control headspace? The receiver has " Stevens A & t co. " stamped on it. Any guess as to date of MFG ?

    Pictures would be helpful. Straight grip stock was standard but pistol grip stocks were an option. Need to see some good photos.

    I have never seen a Favorite with a pistol grip.
    The only exception would be a Ladies Model which is very rare and as a result expensive. Please try to post pictures.

    If it has a Perch-belly stock, more than likely it is a custom made piece of wood, P/G and all.. May not even be a Favorite !!! Just have a Fav. Butt plate?_?

    Sorry about the pics but i just cant get the hang of it.Had a friend here today that showed me how to put them on e-mail but couldnt get them on here.Wish id gotten the last 2 replies befor i went to the gun show yesterday but i sold it for 225.00.Have a Christian Sharps pepperbox to put on here but Im going to get pics with it this time,if i can.thanks,grateful for all help so far.

    It took me 4 years to finally get the hang of posting pictures here[:I] But one picture tells a story better then 1000 words. I suspect you had a perch belly stock on a stevens model 44 or 44&1/2 you owe it to yourself to learn EVERYTHING possible about a gun you sell . Your stevens could very easily have been a high dollar piece . Wish I had been at the door of that gun show when you walked in.

    gun was a .22 long rifle favorite.i have a 25-20 in the larger frame 44.
