bill2740.......If you check Shotgun News Sarco has them for sale from time to time...chinese made, of course. Question? Are you trying to make your M97 into a trench shotgun? If so, no poly and no full choke barrel...and the repro heat shields are easily detected. Plus, collectors know the serial # ranges so that won't work either. And the missing stock cartouches...on and on. Good luck!

Heat shield screws (for the Winchester trenchguns), in addition to squeezing the bayo lug area tight against the barrel, also are designed to have an 'interference fit' on the bottom of the barrel. In other words, Trenchgun barrels are notched to allow the screws to pass through.

So, Winchester made trenchgun barrels a little thicker, and 'notched' the barrels to allow the screws to act as a fore and aft anchor on the barrel.

If not an original trenchgun, your barrel will be too thin to accept the notches without distorting the barrel, and the O.D. of a standard barrel will be a few .000's less. Troubles ahead. Best, Joe
