Colt Light .270 win.

How do I find out if this is one of the recalled rifles? Serial #LR001685 I have tried looking online without any success, so with all the knowledge flowing around here I thought somebody could answer my query.

    This is the announcement of the recall and company failure:

    Colt Recalls Light Rifle

    "Colt's Mfg. Co. had barely begun production of the Light Rifle that it acquired from Ultra Light Arms when a problem with the bolt assembly surfaced, resulting in the beleaguered gunmaker issuing a recall. A Colt spokesman said the problem was that the firing pin on some rifles may fail to cock, leaving itself at rest on the primer of a chambered round. The result could be an accidental discharge if the bolt was hit or the gun dropped.

    Industry insiders said Colt had shipped fewer than 500 units of the Light Rifle. Our mole also reported that there are about 1,500 Light Rifles ready to ship from the manufacturer, Saco Defense Systems. However, the company refuses to release the guns until Colt pays its bills, according to an industry newsletter.

    Additional trouble looms from Ultra Light Arms owner Melvin Forbes, who was forced to take back what was left of his company after Colt reportedly failed to pay him."

    Melvin Forbes has stood behind all of the recalls and the mess created by the idiots at Colt. I suggest calling him to discuss the problem and to see if you need a recall or a repair.

    oneshot98....I, too, have one of the Saco Light Rifles about 3000 digits later than yours in 7mmRM. Bought it years ago and just stuck it in the safe...have never fired it. Your question got me thinking so thanks to the suggestion of Nononsense, I just got off the phone with Melvin Forbes and he was most helpful. He also has a good website. I suggest you too give him a call. He tells me that the rifle could possibly slamfire and should be restocked....evidently the stock is made from recycled plastic jugs....I know it is butt ugly. He does make a new stock for it. Says the barrels are fine as they were made on new equipment as he required. Most helpful guy.
