Has Anybody Filed a Mail Fraud Case?

It looks like my seller has stiffed me. I sent a money order through the mail, so I was wondering if the money order receipt and documentation from the Gunbroker site would be enough for mail fraud.

Any experts on this issue?

    Good luck. They will tell you that "they do not have time for these small cases".

    Not an expert, but have gone thru this.

    1. Stop payment can be issued by the PO.
    2. Documents can be issued by the PO since it is interstate commerce.

    Check with the PO immediately, and then let the seller know you did it.

    My seller determined to send back the MO instead of cashing it. It did cost me a few bucks and time to wait while the PO returned the funds after the MO came back.

    Go ahead and file with postal authorities just to get it on the record. If it is an internet fraud the proper place to file a complaint is ic3.gov which is where your mail fraud case will end up. Been there, done that.

    My case is a little different. Sell dropped Manila envelope with mag in mail box. Post Office pick it up and said the hole in bottom was already there and envelope was empty. And Deerslayer said prove it because was there when he mailed it. Post Office said I had to prove it. I was just screwed out of a few dollars because the Post Office would do nothing. And other than leaving negative feedback there was nothing else I could do. Fill out the paper work just don't expect the Post Office to find anything because they won't, even if the sell did ship it they won't.

    You want to make a federal case out of a missing mag? Give me a break. There are folks who have lost hundreds of dollars.

    Most folks know you can just stick a mag in a manila envelope; that's why they sell padded envelopes. You left appropriate FB, let it go at that.

    And, the next time, only deal with someone who is willing to ship insured (at your expense).

    By the way, no auction complaints permitted on this forum.

    Yep, & found the local postal "inspectors" to be nuthin' but lazy/useless/obnoxious ShenayNays whom argued every little bit of case detail back at me. I then went to her supervisor & it got even more hysterical (& all this was way before anybody ever heard of O'Bammy).

    Would suggest that ya'll jus' mend yer slight wounds & move-on, mate. Nobody can fix stupid .....

    Why not believe the seller and the mag was removed while in transit... insurance, thats what it is for...

    Insurance is just another form of "income" for the US Postal Service. Let us hear from anyone who has collected.

    Got a open case now. It took 6 months to start the investigation. 3 months later nothing. The seller ripped off a lot of people and each is being treated as a separate case. lots of paperwork. Save everything.
