Iver Johnson's Arms and Cycle works
I have a Iver Johnson's pistol that I would like to learn more about. I found it in a cabin I purchased 25 years ago so I know very little about it. It appears to be in very good condition and I would think in good enough condition to fire.
I would like to know the Caliber, age, approximate value and any additionally information that someone was willing to share.
One top of the barrel I says "Iver Johnson's Arms & Cycle Works, Fitchburg Mass USA
On the bottom of the trigger guard 43386 or 48885 the stamped numbers are hard to read.
On the bottom of the butt I can read "at NOV 17, 08 and the bottom line is to hard to read however it looks like a few of the letters are " ats pen "
Thank you
Ric

the one patent date nov.17.08 was used between 1914 and about 1921 when dates were no long used on this model. this will make it a third model but i need to know the letter code on the left side of the grip frame (under the grips) before i can tell you any more than it is a third model. each frame size, each version and each caliber has a different letter code. if it is a six shot it is the 32 S&W Long csliber built on the large frame. if a 5 shot it is either a 32 or 38 S&W depending on frame size and if a 7 shot it is 22 rimfire.
