new boots

Back in 1999 I bought a pair of rocky boots that lasted 8 seasons. The bottom just fell apart and the uppers are in great shape. So two years ago I bought a new pair and two years later the bottom crack the uppers are in great shape. But that doen't keep your feet dry, I would like to buy a new pair something that will last more then two years. I like rocky but will not get burn again I will pay good money for something that will last.

    Another vote for Danner. Also make sure you buy the American made ones.

    I've tried half a dozen over the years. Georgia boots are the warmest Ive owned, but another vote for Danner on comfort and longevity.

    Up here in the Pacific Northwest logging woods, all the highlead loggers wear Danner cork boots, if they can afford them.

    Whites/Buffalo's or Wesco depending on your foot shape. The Whites have too high of an arch for me. Both are made in the US and are fully rebuildable.

    As for Danners I have not tried them but I know many people that use to be Danner wearers prior to trying the above brands. If you think the Danner are expensive the ones I listed are about $400 a pair. It is what you will see many of the good wildland fire fighters wearing. They far out numbered the other boots worn by loggers in our part of the PWN when we still had a logging related business. The reason these guys use them is they last longer then others.

    Irish Setter makes good boots, as does Danner.

    Danners are good boots, but some of the models are made in china now, usually the affordable ones, so watch to see where they are made. I buy LaCrosse or Irish Setters boots, have had pretty good luck with these .

    I had the same experience with Rocky boots.The ones I had fell apart way too soon.The best work boots I found are Timberland Pro.For cold weather I bought a pair of military surplus gore tex with cold weather liners.They are comfortable and last forever.

    I had a pair of insulated Rocky boots that had been used very little but were 3 or 4 years old. The rubber sole became like cheese and crumbled. I contacted the company and they sent a new set of soles at no charge but would not pay for attaching them to the boots. I paid a shoe shop less than $25 to put on the new soles. That was several years ago. Surely they have stopped using the "cheese" soles by now.
