Marlin 1891 question
I seen a 1891 with a half octagon barrel and deluxe wood (blonde color?) at a local shop for sale, the problem is that it is missing the side plate. Very nice .22 but what are the chances to find a side plate???? I don't have a picture but can anyone tell me if this is worth getting and trying to find a side plate??? Would say 75% overall condition.
Thanks
Thanks

This is the first variation of the later Model 39 rifle and there are a lot of interchangeable parts between the Model you are looking at up to about 1928. You should be able to find the parts you need to fix the rifle, changing anything that is apparent will decrease the value and you would end up with a shooter. The side plate model per this link were just made for a few years, these are nice rifles!

Nice rifle, if you can find the parts for it will be well worth the effort.
