Savage 22 LR
I am trying to identify and Savage 22 that is different than any other i have seen.
The overall length is 43 1/4 inches, and the barrel is 25"
The stock is long - covers the barrel except the final 3 1/2 inches
The stock and barrel are banded and the Bolt action is clip fed
The bolt sets the firing pin when it is forced forward to close and there is a round grip at the end of the bolt
The safety is a tab on the right side and when depressed the left side raises on the left side and has the word "FIRE" showing above the wooden stock. When the safety is up the word safe is on the left side of gun in the bolt housing.
The clip is missing on this firearm

It would be best if you could post quality photos of the rifle. Although with your description it sounds like a Model 19.
Here are instructions for posting photos to the forum.

I agree, sounds like a Savage 19 NRA.
