Double Rifle Barrel Makers?

Does anyone know of a gunsmith who makes double rifle barrels for double barrel shotguns? I have a Browning BSS and was wondering if a set of rifle barrels could be made for my gun. Would the cost be such that just buying a new double rifle would be cheaper? I am thinking of a "small frame" double in something like 30-06.

    I checked into this about 15 years ago and found a guy who did this for $5,000 and you had to provide a set of shotgun barrels for him to build on. His name was Searcy or Cearcy, I think.

    You might try contacting Conn. shotgun Manufacturing but my bet is 5 grand wont touch what they will charge.

    Check out one of the other famous, America guns buying sites( sorry can not give you site title exactly) , do search under baikal. Listed there is one of the inexpensive russian baikal in double rifle sxs 30-06. How well will it keep the bullets together? let us know... make a good topic. It does have adjustable regulation for horizontal but not vertical bullet placement and bullet weight and speed will be a factor. Other than this it is all big $$ for double rifle sxs. O/U 3o-06, listed on gunbroker, are more resonable price and obtainable. Personally I would consider a rimmed cartridge for any break open action.

    I haven't had the time to talk with Butch for quite a while but double rifles is a booming business for him. I'm not sure he is taking on making just barrels but it never hurts to call and ask.

    This man is talented but has a sense of humor. One year, he brought a custom designed double rifle chambered for the .17 HMR to Safari Club International.

    Ultimate in inexpensive - get a chamber insert and barrel liner from mcace.com (guy up in Alaska that makes them). A pair of 45-70 barrel inserts for a 12ga would run you about $200 ... if you have a 20ga then 30-40 krag inserts are available, as are a number of pistol cartridges.

    Check out the valmet system model 412 or 512 you can get one receiver and then barrel sets they make double shotgun one rifle and one shotgun barrel and double rifle barrel sets. Great guns.
