What are the main things someone should look for to verify that the gun is all original I know more about their shotguns than I do the 1911. Also how coud you tell if has been back to the armory for rework and would this hurt the value at all.

  is a ithica 1911 c&r it dates to 1943

  Yes as it's over 50 years old. The only way it wouldn't be considered a C & R is if it was radically altered into a race gun, or something similar. Or if the Ithaca slide was on a Colt or aftermarket frame that was less then 50 years old.
