AR10 Buffered Recoil?
My wife loves shooting all of my AR15 type .223 rifles. My HK91, however, is a different story (Ouch!). I was thinking of getting an AR10 type rifle (.308) if the recoil would be more manageable for her. Is the AR10 "buffered" (recoil) similar to the AR15 types?

Not sure on the AR10 platform, but the FN-FAL system has much less felt recoil than the HK91/G3 design. Also more controllable - got to watch from directly behind as a guy did a mag dump on full auto of both a HK and a FAL, the FAL had much less muzzle climb. 0 -
Thanks (Iwannausername) on the FAL info. I have a couple of those from the mid 1970's still packed away (consecutive numbers not that that means anything) and, at this time, don't plan on shooting them hence the AR10 question. I do know the HK are mules when it comes to recoil... 0 -
The AR-10 kicks quite a bit less then the G3, but IMHO the fal rifles gentle push is more controlable then either.. DSA and enteprise makes clones, even carbines with para stocks, with scope rail top covers and trigger jobs all as options.

also the pointy gripping butt plate on the A2 or m4 carbine style butstocks on the AR-10 is uncomfy when shooting in a tshirt, as in buttstock rash on the shoulder after 150-200 rounds...
my advise is to get an after market stock with a ruber butt plate like the magpul moe or CTR to replace the factory cheapo one. It makes shooting them pleasant enough.

The full stock will chew up a shoulder without some padding over a t shirt. I actually ended up switching it to a carbine receiver extension so I could get a better stock..

Thanks "quickmajik"! I was planning on the "full stock" version of an AR10 type rifle. I have never liked the butt plate on the collapsible stock versions of AR's. Thanks again! 0
