value of a Winchester 1300 Defender Shotgun
Hi
I would appreciate any input you could give me.
I have a Winchester 1300 Defender Shotgun - with Pistol Grip all metal.
I do not believe it has ever been fired.
Went to a Gun/Pawn Shop today - man offered me $50.00. He was very pleasant, named economy etc. for the low value of the gun - also stated that since gun was no longer produced most were used for parts. Suggested I go to the Gun Show this weekend and try to sell the shotgun there.
What is a fair asking price for a Winchester 1300 12 Gauge 8 shot shotgun? The gun has been sitting in my closet for many years.
I have spent some time trying to figure out what price I could ask - and then I found this site - thought I would ask here.
Thank You for any information you will share.

Zelda......welcome to the GB Forum and thanks for your question. The pawn shop owner was correct in his estimate of the gun market right now...it is not the time to sell so I would hold on to the Defender until a better time comes along in a year or two. However, his value on your gun was way low, as usual with most pawn shops. $50 is darn insulting, quite frankly. There is one for sale right now on the auction side for $750, which is too high IMHO and therefore has no bidders. I have a five shot Defender that I bought used several years ago for $150 and like it a lot. Without photos, a guess would be somewhere in the $300-400 range, on a good day. Good luck at the gun show! 0 -
Right now there is one on the Gunbroker side with active bids up to $200 without the pistol grip stock. I would guestimate approximately $250 would be what you probably could get. 0 -
Thanks for the warm Welcome and the Reply Gary.
One of these days I will learn how to speak to Pawn shop owners [:I]
It is all a learning experience.
The man basically gave me what I asked for - I did have enough sense not to bite.
Gun Show should be fun. Thanks for wishing me luck, and for the information.0 -

Thank You - I was questimating at $200.000 -
Another question?
Is the pistol grip a selling point?
Thanks again for the input.
This site is fascinating.0 -
Zelda...yes, the pistol grip is a selling point but this shotgun takes a special buyer, one who likes the "looks" of a tactical shotgun rather than a tradition shotgun. Keep it for a year or two until the market goes "up" and you should get some good money for it. Good luck...and glad you like our GB Forum! 0 -
Thank You Gary!
Have a Great One!0
