US Harpers Ferry - Pic Heavy
It's stamped US Harpers Ferry 1859. Can somebody give me an approximate value and what model this is? I think it's a Type II but I could be wrong.

It appears to have been originally a Model 1855 Percussion Rifle-Musket. Unfortunately it has been cut-down and sporterized. Many of these rifles were sold as Government surplus after the Civil War. It was common to cut them down and bore the barrels out to make them into inexpensive utility shotguns for the folks going out to settle the west.
My WAG in the condition it's now in it's value would be as a decorator or conversation piece. Maybe $300-$500?0 -
I agree with Rufe. Since the Harper's Ferry arsenal was burned down by John Brown in 1859, yours was one of the last made. The lock with the Maynard Tape Primer would bring the most money and the rest are just parts. 0
