side by side hammer gun
Harrington Richhardson Arms, Ptn date Feb 27, 1900,3 didget ser #,I thought it was a 410 but, side of left chamber sais, 44 Cal, seems to have 28'' steel barrels...help...

H&R "Small bore/light frame" Hammer Gun. Made from 1909 to circa 1921. The first chamberings were the .44 Cal shot sheel XL or .44/40 shot shell, Marble Game Getter shot or ball. Low pressure cartridge and 28 gauge. Latter offerings were in .410 bore, approx. 1916 and 20 ga. In v. good to excellent condition these sell in the 800 to 1000 buck range. Only approx. 5000 total pieces made. Not many seen for sale. I have a .44 which apparently was reamed to take .410 3" shells. Haven't shot either the .44 or the 28 ga. 0 -
I know NOTHING of this one, but I was wondering if CCI still made shotshells for the .44, and if they would workinstead of having it reamed?? Like I said, I know nothing about that cartridge, but I didn't know if that might be an option. 0 -
I load for my 44 CALIBER WHICH IS A H&R SHOTGUN SINGLE SHOT WITH A BEAD SMOOTH BORE PAT DATE 20FEB 1895.I CUT DOWN TO 2 IN FROM PLASTIC 2 1/2 410 SHELLS.The original 44XL shells are 1 1/4 in.with paper rolled filled with no 8 shot bullets.I use the load listed for pryodex from hodgedon.I have been looking at 44supermag brass that is 1 5/8.i have about 1/2 box of 44Xl win shells in split red box.tks hedge 0
