Winchester 70 Coyote Light Caliber?

I'm interested in this gun either in 22-250 or 243? what is range with these calibers? Is it too big or small for coyotes/bobcats/prairie dogs? On plusis that 243 could be used for deer/antelope. Let me know what you think?

    I'm interested in this gun to shoot predators and or varmints. Would you buy 22-250 or 243? What is my effective range with them? Also what is your experience with this gun? Is this too big or small for coyotes/bobcats/prairie dogs. Only good thing is 243 could be used for deer/antelope. Let me know what you think.

    I've shot lots of prairie dogs out to 350 yds and coyotes to 200 yds with 22-250 in M70. No cripples. The 243 will be deadly to 400 yds with practice and a good scope and rest. My 243 shoots 55 gr bullets to 1/2 MOA and slightly better with 70 gr bullets. 1000's of deer and antelope have been taken with one shot kills from .243.

    In my opinion, the .243 is the more versatile round. I have both the .22-250 and .243 and use both, however, the .243 will do things the 22-250 won't or can't. Zimmden already talked about deer and antelope hunting. The .22-250 MAY do that, as well, but is not legal in most states, The .243 will shoot varmints and deer sized game anywhere in the country (little small for elk IMHO). If I only had the choice of 1 I would choose the .243. Good luck with your decision - always a tough on; picking from 2 calibers....

    Coyote lite are great carry,truck guns, mine is a .25wssm and has made a fine whitetail hammer.The new Coyote lites I like even more as it is the old 'pre 64' type action. I shoot and love .22-250 & .243 win. 's but the .243 is a true dual purpose round,I also feel the 6mm stuff is inherently accurate with boocoo factory ammo and bullits avaliable.     I have been shooting 'yotes on my ranch for years with a .243.
    I very rarely get a shot on them less than 250yds,and most are 300 to 400yds.
    I am shooting a handload with a 75 grn V-Max bullet over Varget powder.I went with the heavier bullet because it carried energy and bucked the wind better.This combo has been instantly humane on all the animals I have shot with it ,even the 2 I've gotten at over 500yds.
