I'm wanting a Colt .45 revolver....
How much should I be expecting to pay? I want to real deal as well, not a replica.

Never know though.......do a search on the auction side for what you seek. Search the closed auctions. Then you will know...... "close"....... to where you'll end up[:)]0 -
I just bought a new 7 1/2 in 45 Colt, paid $1,100.00 and I think that's about as good as it gets. If you have a store you deal with often you can probably get that price, I think about $1,350.00 is average for a 3rd Generation new.
You might want to look at USFA, they are every bit as good as Colt and some might say a touch better. I'll go with "it's a tie". They sure have more versions.0 -

i do not. But the Rodeo is not what I would consider "purty" enough for purchase. On the inside it is as well finished as any USFA and that's very good. But it is their entry level and rather plain finished. If I were buying for function only it's great, but for that overall "wow!" I think it falls short.

I got a used Colt 45 LC 3rd gen with a 5 1/2" bbl here on GB last year for just over 800 and it came with RCBS cowboy dies. Add the shipping and FFL transfer and I think i have 850 in it. I was surprised...expected it to go higher but prices were down last spring. SUPERB gun...case colors are nice, bluing is superb. Was used for cowboy action and does show some wear at muzzle end and end of the cylinder, but it is honest wear and the thing locks up like a bank vault. I was really impressed. This is the second 3rd gen Colt 45 I have owned and it is the way to go. USFA are super nice...shot a rodeo and have seen their premium model. Absolutely superb, but for what you pay for a USFA (non rodeo model) might as well get the real deal. Look at new Colt prices and used Colt prices, then new USFA prices versus used USFA prices, you will see the Colt is the way to go. I still check here and the other auction sites and you can find them new around 1100 in 45 LC. If you are willing to go with a .357 you can get them even cheaper (may pick one of these up soon..love the caliber and just love the SAA Colt). 0 -

USFA firearms are first class. I particularly like their antiqued "Gunslinger" model.

If above statement was due to insuring quality when you purchase, USFA is the way to go. They are a 'tad' better in all respects than a genuine Colt. Let me explain:
In the price range of the firearms you have shown, you can probably get a genuine 'Colt', but it will be a pre-owned one, and you will be spending extra for the 'name'.
If this is your first SAA purchase, get a new USFA, or spend 2X the money and get a late 'custom shop' SAA (commonly refered to late 3rd generation). They are excellent, also. Remember, the name 'Colt' alone will cost you (new) an extra $650.00.
With that [extra] money, you can get a good Texas, or Buscadero rig for your gun, and enough ammo to 'get you in the game'. Just say'n. Best, Joe0 -
