Does anybody know if this gun was put out by Colt?

That's not an actual Colt commemorative but one done by Talo, Inc., called "The Rattlesnake".

I'm not familiar with Colt Commemorative, it says Government on the box not Commemorative. My knowledge of Colts is minimal.0 -
It's a "special edition" (meaning that a distributor ordered them for his exclusive sale), as opposed to a "commemorative", which would have been designed by Colt, cataloged, & made available to all of its distributors.
It's a "limited edition" only in the sense that Talo limited his order to the number that he thought he could sell. When the 200 with two-tone finish sold out, they ordered 200 with a matte finish; when they sold out, they ordered 200 in stainless steel; etc.
But, it's still a Colt Government. I would expect it to sell in the $800-1,000 range.
