1907 mauser
I picked up a 1907 obendorf mauser. It also ahs s42g marks. All markings appear to be german and it was turned into a sporter, no import marks. Is it a rarity or a ho hum find?

Triumph13,
This is from The Book of Marks:
s42g Mauser-Werke. Oberndorf On The Neckar replaced by byf. WW2 German Code for Rifles. G means made in 1935.
Most anything we could impart to you will be guess and by gosh without seeing pictures of the marks and the rifle's condition. You should also take the barreled action out of the stock since many of the marks will be found on the bottom of the barreled action or below the wood line.
In general terms, any collectible military firearm will lose some value when it has been sporterized. The degree of sporterizing determines how much is lost.
I am not a collector so we'll wait to see what they have to say here in a bit.
Best.
