20 guage model 12 how old?

Just aquired a 20 Guage Model 12, no rib, modified choke, proof steel barrel, 5 digit serial number--87xxx. Any body got a clue on approximate year of manufacture?

  ALSO NOTE THAT (UNLESS MODIFIED) IT IS CHAMBERED FOR 2 1/2" SHELLS

  Sorry Guys, My eyesite is fading-- hope that is all that's going.
  
  The serial number is a six digitnumber, not 5 -- 877xxx.

  More like 1940-1941 with six digits.
