    In this case Sterling is Sterling Armaments Company, the former UK arms firm that went belly up about 20 years ago. Sterling produced the AR-18 and AR-180 rifles under license from Armalite and of course produced magazines to go along with the rifles. Back in the days when the AR-180 was common it was pretty typical for AR-15 magazines to be cut for use in both the AR-15 and AR-180 and most of the 40 round Sterling magazines I've seen will fit either rifle. They are good magazines and feed and function fine. New in the wrap might bring a premium of some sort but as a rule these magazines are not really rare and are actually not all that popular with AR-15 shooters due to their extra length when compared to the standard 30 round AR-15 magazines. If your magazine is cut for the AR-180 then you should be pushing to an Armalite guy because they are always looking for magazines.

    I have an AR-180. New in wrapper you may get as much as $100.00 to a collector. $80.00 to a shooter. My 2 cents [8D]

    How do I tell if it will work in the 180?

    Chris, it will have a cut stright across from the AR hole. I got a AR-180 years ago.
    I have two of the Sterling 40rd. mags and the work good in both guns.
    A lot of three gun shooters like longer AR mags as they don't have to reload as much.

    If it is an AR-18/180 magazine it will have a cut in the body that looks like this:

    It appears to have the proper cut as shown in photo 1 of the auction. I did not want to open the plastic even though I am not sure if the packaging is original.
