    I had one in 22 Mag...never had a problem.

could be fouling/residue buildup in extractor area. has gun been dry fired? could be weak extractor spring. part of question sounds like the ejector is bent/mis-adjusted. the only problem i have encountered with these rifles is owner adjustments.

Thanks for the comments. rwfixem, I have kept it pretty clean, also thinking that fouling might be an issue. Also, no amateur gunsmithing here. I could see any warranty coverage flying out the window as soon as I tried to "adjust" stuff. The extractor is a pretty simple device...just a clip with a hook, fits around the bolt in a specific recess. maybe we're just in need of many more rounds cycled through. I'd love to go out and reduce the varmint population, but am wary of something I have to pay such close attention to in order to make sure it extracts casings.

I have never had a problem with my Marlin extracting spent casings.

Good luck with a quick fix.
