Winchester 1200
Will the winchester 1200 barrels interchange with the winchester 1300 barrels? Thanks.

A friend of mine bought a Winchester 1200 12ga used today. I stopped by his shop to take a look at it today and was suprised to see that it has a BRIGHT SHINY, MIRROR LIKE chrome finish on the reciever and barrel and a beautifull walnut stock. Its practically new and I would rate it a 9.5 out of 10 and only because its been handled. It say stainless on the barrel. Did this gun come like this from the factory? Ive done a few searches but have come up with nothing. When he first told me about it i thought it was a dull nickel type finish like mossberg and remington have on their marine pumps, but this thing has a mirror shine. I'll see if I can get him to e-mail a pic so I can post it. Any info is appreciated. Thanks 0 -

I believe it was an 18 inch barrel but it has rifle sights not just a bead 0 -
The finish on this gun is shiny chrome. It looks factory, the finish is perfect. Could it be that someone chrome dipped the gun? 0 -
i remember selling a few of those new about 30 years ago. i believe it was advertised as a marine model for use around the ocean. the barrels were stainless and everything else was chrome plated. 0 -
I know the model your talking about, but this one is different. Everything is shiny chrome. Reciever, barrel, sights, safety, bolt...everything. Ive never seen one like it. Someone must have custom made it. 0 -
Since the barrel is stamped STAINLESS, most likely duckhunter is correct, it would be a 1200 Police Stainless.
My guess is that the gun Robert Smith is referring to is the 1300 Stainless Marine Defender, which was nickel plated. It originally was completely plated with wood stock, later guns had a composite stock & receiver treated with Sandstrom 9A phosphate process.
