When did winchester start using the set screw in the common front sight of the 1873 winchester rifles? Thanks Tom

No... and it will likely be a lot of years before a detailed survey is undertaken.

Does anyone have a more complete production ratio than what is given in the 1 of 1000, The Winchester Book by Madis. Tom

Page 58 of WINCHESTER: THE GOLDEN AGE OF AMERICAN GUNMAKING AND THE WINCHESTER 1 OF 1000 has a chart titled "Tabulated Features of the Model 1873 1 of 1000 Rifles Based on the Winchester Factory Ledgers."

It totals 133 rifles, showing how many of each barrel type and length were made, as well as metal finish, stock configuration, trigger type, sights, slings/swivels, etc.

There is also a new book out (I don't have it yet) titled THE STORY OF THE WINCHESTER 1 of 1000 AND 1 of 100 RIFLES which may have new/updated information, as well as being advertised as having "Serial number tables."

EDIT. Sorry, I think I misread your post. I thought you wanted additional information on the 1 of 1000 rifles, but I THINK your reference to the 1 of 1000 was one of the editions of Madis' book.
