Winchester 94 Loading gate

I have a Pre 64 Winchester that Im having trouble getting the loading gate to open after the file is cycled/ cocked. I can see that after the lever is cycled the carrier is up just a bit and stopping the loading gate from being able to open. I can easily push it down and the gate will work, but it just not right.

I have done a lot to try to see whats wrong:
1) Checked the loading gate for obtruction
2) Checked the Carrier spring
3) Checked the carrier for movement
4) Cleaned looked the whole gun over for wear and broken stuff


Im lost. Can someone help

    check the carrier spring(flat spring inside the receiver), it has a 'pointed' end that activates the carrier. If this 'point' gets rounded by wear the carrier will not make full travel.

    Thank you. I did pull the spring out, but didnt have anything to compare it to. I looked for one locally but didnt find one. I guess Jack First or Gun Parts is the deal.

    Got a carrier spring from another gun. Needed it now. Thanks that fixed it. Cool thing is that the old spring is working in the gun I took the replacement one from/
