Can a C&R holder mail (USPS) a C&R pistol to another C&R holder?
I'd appreciate help on this. Jon0 -
According to the information I have any firearm must be shipped to one of the following: licensed collector, licensed manufacturer or licensed dealer. I am not sure about USPS shipping firearms. I only use UPS. 0 -
Regrets, but no. Reason is the regulations have a glitch, and instead of saying"licensee" it specifically says "Dealer or Manufacturer". Since we C&R folks are NOT "in the business", the other part of the reg that states "in the normal course of trade shipments" does not apply to us either. If you are C&R, you can mail LONG guns to another C&R holder, but not handguns. Wish it were not so, but it is. I even ran this one down a few years ago with the ATF Firearms Technical branch. No. 0 -
US Postal regulations prohibit anyone other than licensed dealers and manufacturers (as well as a very few other classes of shippers) from using the mails to ship handguns and C&R holders don't fit any of the allowable definitions. Your shipping choices are basically limited to FedEx or UPS, both of whom have their own corporate regulations mandating the use of air shipment for handguns, which will be costly. 0 -
Many thanks. I was hoping for the best but expecting the worst. Jon 0
