Winchester 37A .410 trigger question

I recently aquired a Winchester 37A in .410 from my father. The hammer will only lock back when I push the front of the trigger upwards. Anyone else had issues like this? Is there a broken spring? If so, how does one repair it?

  I have owned several 37A's and never had the problem you describe.

  My money is on a broken trigger spring.

  My guess is the trigger spring as well. Any tips on how to get to that part to replace it? I have no owners manual for this model.
