Could someone please tell me the yr of this Win 94
I have a Winchester Model 1894 rifle that I can't seem to locate the manufacture date of. It's been in my family for years, someone said these things can be looked up by the serial number, but I'm finding conflicting information on-line about an actual manufactured year.

If I'm reading Bert's chart http://forums.gunbroker.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=245213 correctly, it appears your Winchester was manufactured in 1931 corrected to 1901.
Thanks, nononsense!0 -

Please excuse my ignorance, but where does it show this? I couldn't see how you came up with 1931 from that thread.0 -
Hello PuddleMonkey,
Your Model 94 1894 was manufactured in February 1942 late year 1901.
What caliber is it?0 -

I appreciate the information! Does it have any value?
I'd like to get into collecting guns and I hope to learn a lot from this forum.0 -

You are quite welcome[:)]
Yes it does have some value, but not a large amount. The original rear sight is missing, and the rest of the gun shows its age. I can not see enough of the gun in just the two pictures to adequately assess it.

Bert - Actually, I did a "typo" and meant to write 1901 as opposed to 1931 but I'm still obviously way off from your stated year of 1942. Did I totally misread your chart or am I misreading the serial number? I'm reading 132013.
In your thread, it says: "The following list contains verified Model 1894 dates based on the factory warehouse ledgers (held by the Cody Firearms Museum). The actual DOMs listed in the PRSRB will typically precede the "received in warehouse" date by an average of 4-weeks":
Serial # / Received in warehouse
131497 - 11-19-1901
136647 - 1-31-1902
This gun appears to be number 132013 which seems far too low for 1942. Please educate me as I want to read it correctly and I apologize for my error. Thanks.0
