Winchester 22 WRF
I recently discovered what I think is a Winchester 22 WRF...either model 1890 or 1906. It's not marked Winchester however, but is stamped WRF. It's a take down model with a round barrel which is why it could be the 1906, but I couldn't find it was made in the 22 WRF. Plus this one has the metal cresent shaped buttstock like the 1890. Serial number is 434494. Can't find any other markings..anyone help confirm what this is..thanks.

Welcome to the Forum.
No doubt someone who REALLY knows their Winchesters will be along shortly (there are several hereabouts) but in the meantime I would offer the following:
1. Good close-up photos will be invaluable in positively identifying your rifle, and,
2. I'm not aware of any Winchesters that weren't so marked. I wonder if this could be a foreight knock-off of vintage or later date??
Looking forward to learning more about this rifle, which we both will, very soon.

p.s. Again. Have you had the rear sight off? If my memory is still working at all, that's where I'd expect to see the "Winchester".0 -

The barrel assembly is a Model 1890. The "A" following the serial number is what identifies it as an 1890 versus a 1906 (which would have a "B").
What is not correct is the round barrel. I suspect that it is an aftermarket part, and that is why it does not have the standard Winchester address (and patent dates) marked on the barrel.0 -
Thank you all for the help and comments...I'll check the rear sight, I have not had it off...
Although the round barrel may be an aftermarket part, I'll get it cleaned up..will probably still be a fun shooter...
