Shipping Out Of California
I'm trying to ship a shotgun to my son in Michigan. In the past each buyer supplied a copy of their state dealer's FFL lic; & UPS shipped the guns to the dealer. My son in michigan found a FFL dealer for me to ship thru, but he will not send me a copy of his FFL unless I'm a FFL dealer. If I just have his Dealer address info can I UPS the shotgun to this dealer for my son?

As a dealer he does not have to send you a copy of his FFL because you are a non licensee, although many dealers, including myself, will send the license. He does have to provide you with his FFL number which you can then run through the ATF EZ-Check web site to verify that he is a dealer and that his FFL is indeed valid. Simply getting his name and address is not sufficient to ship the firearm. 0 -
Don't have anything to do with UPS. Long Arms can be send through the Post Office by either a private individual or a FFL dealer, as long as they are sent to a FFL. In the past I've shipped long guns by USPS Priority Mail. 0 -
Thank you both very much. 0 -
Your son's dealer just likes to be sure that he knows who he is dealing with.
My experience is that most dealers can be reasoned with. In your position, I'd send my son a photocopy of my drivers license; have him take the photocopy to his dealer, & see if that will satisfy him enough that he will agree to accept delivery from you, & give your son his dealers license #.
