    Sure. You need to fill out a Form 1, get it signed off by your local police chief and pay the $200 making tax. Once the Form 1 is approved you can add the stock to your pistol and have a Short Barreled Rifle. While it is registered as a SBR you can alter it back to pistol configuration any time you please without notifying the BATFE, unless the change is permanent. In that case you must specifically notify the BATFE that you are PERMENANTLY restoring it to its original configuration of a pistol and that you want to removed from NFA registration, Naturally you won't get your $200 tax refunded.

    ok thanks, i have a sig 556 pistol i was think about adding a rifle stock ot it after i get approval.
