Tinned 45-70
Good Evenig All,
I'd like to find out as much as possible on a box of 20 cartridges that I just picked up in a box of gun stuff including value. The front of the box says,
20
RIFLE BALL CARTRIDGES, RELOADING
- TINNED BRASS SHELL.-
Clean the inside of EVERY shell thoroughly before reloading
Resize every shell before reloading
Lubricate slighly the exterior of shell before reloading
Never prime a LOADED shell
Never load a primed shell without a SAFTY-SOCKET
MANUFACTURED AT THE FRANKFORD ARSENAL
On the top of the box it's stamped in blue ink,
Initial velocity
1266
APR 30 1891
The box is clean with no stains althought the corners are a little tattered. The string to open the box is still intact. The cartridges look like brand new with a headstamp of F 4 91.
Thanks in advance
John

When you go to the above website, be patient as a lot of the posters are at a cartridge show today through Saturday. 0 -

Even though the string is there, it appears to be an opened box. It's worth about half the value of an unopened box. I would think it's in the $75 range. 0
