Ithaca Flues

I need to know what 20 ga. shells on the market that I can safely shoot in my Flues model. I'm not set up to reload yet. Can I use those gauge insert adapters in 28 ga. to keep the pressure down in the Ithaca Flues? I know Gamebore, RST, not sure about Estate, all have a low 1200 velocity would this be safe to use? Also can I use 2 1/2" shell in my Flues model that is chambered for 2 3/4"? Forgive my ignorance, PLEASE!

    Just picked up a Ithaca flues grade 4 (no letters) 16ga. 2 9/16" chambers two barrel set made in 1920. One barrel 25" ic/ic, the other 32" f/f. Nothing fancy, all numbers match, shows grade 4 on both barrels and receiver. What do i have? Could this (restored) be a valuable gun? Being a two barrel set i don't think it was just a stock order gun. It was probabbly ordered for someone i am asuming. Gun is very tight and top lever is to the right. Just trying to see if i just wan't to shoot it or restore it (more fun to show off) and then shoot the crap out of it. Any thoughts or help would be appreceated.

    could have something that is worth some money there depending on the condition. Pictures would help, but it all depends on the condition and how much work it needs. If it were in excellent condition and not needing any work, it would be worth good money. I don't dare place a price on it without seeing pics

    HEY thanks. It mechanicaly is in excelant condition and would be a great shoothe. BUT! It looks to have had a lot of serfice rust (looks to havebeen sitting for most of its life) because some one has polished it down so much the dog and grass engraving is almost gone and the stock has been sanded until the hand checkering is almost non existant. I checked bores and they are prestine with no pitting and correct thickness. If it was something special then i will have it completely restored and have a show peice (some what) as one of my hunting guns. I don't plan on selling it i just need to know if it was something special at one time to help me make a decision. I guess what i am trying to say if it were in really good condition would it have been a high grade gun or just a really nice fine old Ithaca with two sets of barrels? There is a 7E on here asking price $15,000. I don't expect this gun would have been in that catagory because it is just a plain grade 4. But what is a grade 4? Not knowing was a grade one $100, grade 2 $150 and so own?

    Ithaca made Field grade through Sousa Grade. A grade 4 16ga 2 barrel set would be worth some serious change. Condition is everything though. On doublegunshop.com Walt Snyder who wrote the book on Ithaca's can tell you just how it left the factory if you give him the serial number. If it is indeed and you got it at a very good price sending it off to Turnbull might not be a bad idea.

    Thanks guys. This is the thought i had so i guess i will have it restored then try to were it out again shooting quail and turkey here in Alabama. A nice double just brings out the good old boy in me.
