Shotgun muzzle brake/ flash hider
I see that Saiga has a couple of factory brakes/ hiders for their 12ga shotguns but I can't find any others. Thinking of putting one on a defense shotgun I am building. Anyone know of any others?

Would suggest you shoot one before you buy one. The increase in sound from a muzzle brake is incredible. (That is the greatest understatement you will ever see me make) 0 -
I see no point.
If recoil is a problem, get a semi-auto or smaller gauge. And, you don't want to add length to the gun, you want it as short as is practical.

There is no point in a flash ider for a shotgun. If recoil is a problem get the barrel ported, it works the same as a brake and keeps the barrel the smae length. 0 -
I don't think muzzle flash with a shotgun is a big enough issue to merit trying to address it with a flash-hider.
In terms of adding a muzzle-brake, that has its pros and cons, and without entirely dismissing the concept, I'd say it depends a lot on what you are trying to do with the gun.
You say "defensive"? What exactly are you defending and from whom?
Personally, I'd say the added noise, weight, and cost mean that I would NOT bother with one on a home defense type gun. The disadvantages far outweigh the sole advantage of some recoil reduction in this application.
Now, if I were expecting to take this into an urban gunfight, maybe that would be a different story.0 -
I do believe Mossberg makes one with a brake on too...or at least I seen a couple at the gunshop last week.
