C&R QUESTION

MOONED
I've got a m-92 win. up for auction here (#46161756) that has been copletely rebuilt but to all original spec's. it this still c&r transferable. A potential bidder wants to know. thanks.

    I just finished filling out my C&R renewal and was surprised to see question #8 ask my if I have, or planned to do any internet sales. It then went on to ask which site(s) I planned to use. I don't remember that last time, any idea as to when that appeared?

    The first 2 digits of the serial number would be the DOM. Since they were only made for a short time in the mid 60's, they wouldn't qualify age wise. Go to the BATF web-site to see if they have been added to the C & R list because of rarity and collector value.

    The information below was taken off of the ATF site. The item I am selling is a "bring back" SKS with six pages of documentation. Could this specific criteria be used to fall under the category of number "3" below?


    Q: What is a firearm curio or relic?
    Firearm curios or relics include firearms which have special value to collectors because they possess some qualities not ordinarily associated with firearms intended for sporting use or as offensive or defensive weapons. To be recognized as curios or relics, firearms must fall within one of the following categories:

    1)Have been manufactured at least 50 years prior to the current date, but not including replicas thereof; or
    2)Be certified by the curator of a municipal, State, or Federal museum which exhibits firearms to be curios or relics of museum interest; or
    3)Derive a substantial part of their monetary value from the fact that they are novel, rare, bizarre, or from the fact of their association with some historical figure, period, or event.

    Possibly.

    For a specific firearm, it's ATF's opinion that counts, not ours. The procedure for requesting a determination can be found in Firearms Curios or Relics List (ATF P5300.11), page 10, downloadable from the ATF website.
