Ruger 10/22 Fans?

I need information for the best bang for the buck in heavy barrels for the 10/22.
Also is there any easy ways to lighten the trigger pull?

    GOOGLE, "Rimfire Central", their a site that only features various rimfire firearms. They have at least 1/2 dozen forums just concerned with the 10/22 and various mods to same. You will over load your brain with all the accessories and mods you can do to the 10/22, i.e you want to make your 10/22 into a MG 42 clone, they have a app for that, etc.etc.

    Hi,

    In my opinion, the best bang for the buck for a 10-22 is to buy a Power Custom hammer, sear, shim, and spring kit to replace the original components of the trigger group.

    This provide a noticeable, lightened trigger pull in the 2 to 3 pound range. It is simple to do and is an economical mod to improve performance.

    I'll let others weigh in on the relative merits of the various trigger groups, barrel options, stocks, etc. Suffice it to say you can easily zip through the 3 digit figures and on past a grand. I would only caution that you enjoy wringing out the possibilities of your particular 10/22 before investing money just to get something that is supposedly better. I wouldn't argue that the Power or Volquartsen units aren't really fine, but I was spoiled by my '60's vintage 10/22;
    I kept the original barrel, drilled and tapped the trigger to add an overtravel stop screw, and removed a coil and half from the trigger spring. On a calm day it will keep 5 W-W Power Points in about 3/4" at 100 yards. (Solid bench, good scope, no caffeine.)

    Agreed. Did it myself: I think the custom trigger kit cost about $70, and it was money WELL spent to improve the overall feel of the gun. For what its worth, the one I got has/had a trigger overtravel adjustment.

    Its an entirely drop in kit. Not nearly as hard as it may sound, since the Ruger 10/22 trigger is relatively simple. I think it took me about half an hour to do it, and I am no gunsmith.

    In terms of best barrels, when I was looking into this myself, the impression I got was that the Green Mountain 10-22 barrels are highly regarded as amongst the best in terms of quality for the dollar.
