Winchester model 94 value, serial # not listed
I've got a nice Winchester 94 - serial number 2596000. I've done research and know that numbers 2586001-2699999 were not used. My questions is what would this gun be worth in the condition it is in, which based on a local gunsmith was at 85%. He did not know anything about the serial numbers not being used and how this would affect the value. If anyone has any knowledge on this issue please let me know. Thanks in advance, RWJR

I have a Winchester 94 with the serial number 2596000. I've researched and seen where numbers 2586001-2699999 were not recorded or used. Mine is in about 85% and I was wondering what the value might be on such an item with this serial number issue. Thanks in advance to anyone that can help.... RWJR

It is not entirely true that serial numbers 2586001 - 2699999 were not used. That is just another one of George Madis' many mistakes that he published (and was copied by numerous other authors and websites).
The pre-64 serial numbers actually reached into the very low 2,600,000 range, with serial number 2600298 being the highest serial number I have confirmed thus far in my on going survey. Your Model 94 was manufactured in the early part of the year 1963.
