I got a sxs 28ga for my grandson, as stated the fit and finish are not browning quality, but neither is the price. I have had no trouble with it have shot maybe 200-300 rounds and they all go bang when you pull the trigger. I only planned to use it for yearly hunting, never intended to put thousands of rounds a year through it so I don't know about long term use and how they would handle heavy shooting.

now is a good time to buy one of them as remington stopped importing them a year ago. what was a $550 remington can now be found for around $400 if you can find the right place. if not buy a baikal now, same gun minus the remington name on the side and they sell for around $450.

Very functional, tuff guns, inexpensive, I like the wood to metal design, curved radius to prevent splitting. Forearm latch is good design. Try to get your hands on the "Basic Sever" 22mag/20ga o/u combination for your new shooter. Make a good squirrel/rabbit/varmint gun. It is similar to IZH94 except o/u barrels are joined with rib and no thread in chokes, but lighter handier for youth.
