British Enfield Rifle

My friend has a British Enfield Rifle that was converted to a 410 Shotgun. He told me that after the great war in India, the military did not want to give any rifles to the Indian police so they converted them to 410 shotguns and gave them to the police. This gun is in very good condition. Does anyone know the history behind the gun? or approximate value? I'm not sure the story told to my friend is even factual. I can't find anything in my gun book about an Enfield. Thanks for any information.

  I've read about those things on the web before. I believe if you googled it you'd find a wealth of info.

  They show up fairly often. Picked one up at local gun show in St. Louis recently for $200. Realy mint condition. Considered it a steal. Usualy $250-$300 in this condition. $175-$200 in average condition. Some are chambered for 2 1/2" shells. Some for 3" shells. Make sure you only use 2 1/2" if so chambered.
