There were two Weaver choke systems--one that was adjustable by twisting a sleeve (like Poly-Choke), and one that had interchangeable tubes (like Cutts). Which do you have?

The one I have is similar to the Cutts with the screw-in chokes.

I have a 1950 Stoeger's Shooters Bible open in front of me. On page 57 headed "MODEL 12 SKEET GUNS" it lists an item called "SKEET GUN with CUTTS COMPENSATOR". The first sentence of the description, "Plain barrel with special shoulder forged on the muzzle end, threaded to fit threading on compensator body."

I have a similiar set-up on a Stevens 620 for a Poly-Choke. However, the Weaver choke was an economy version of the adjustable choke devices marketed to those of us who couldn't afford a Cutts or a Poly-Choke. You can be pretty sure that no guns were set up at the factory to accept it.
