Taurus TCP PT738 380 not feeding
Took this to the range for the 1st time today, brand new gun. Started with winchester 95 gr FMJ. Fired the first couple shots ok, then every other shot it wouldn't feed. The slide would lock back. I tried 90 gr +p buffalo bore JHP, same problem. Tried Magtech +p 85gr JHP, same problem. I stretched the spring a little, and same problem. any ideas?

Sorry you're having trouble. I really like my little TCP. So far, it hasn't failed to feed. I've got 4 Taurus pistols and love them all. The good thing about Taurus is they do have a lifetime guarantee. Send it back to them. I've had really good luck with them. 0 -
Clean it very well and try non HP again and see what happens. If it still has feed problems,contact Taurus.
Do you have more than one mag for it ? Have you tried a different mag ?0 -

Its OK to have a lifetime warranty, but you should be able to not have to use it, instead of constantly use it.0 -
Taurus had a bad batch of TCP-738s. I had the same problem with one that I bought in May. It turned out that the takedown pin was working itself out, causing the weapon to jam.
I called Taurus and they sent Fed Ex out to pick up the weapon at their cost. The idiot driver refused to accept the weapon, stating that only a licensed dealer could ship a weapon. I explained to him that I had an FFL for 12 years, and I knew that a customer could ship a weapon back to the manufacturer for repair. He still refused. After going round and round with Fed Ex for about an hour (and quoting right from their policy manual) they finally sent the driver back to pick up the package. He said that this must be a "new change".
After about 8 weeks I was told that Taurus was replacing the weapon, but due to the recent reversal of ATF opinion on shipping weapons< I had to find an FFL dealer to accept the weapon. This was somewhat of a problem, because the Washington started requiring dealers to collect sales tax on ALL transfers, as a result, most dealers stopped doing transfers.
Fortunately the customer service manager at Taurus arranged to have a local dealer transfer the weapon as an "exchange". I still had to fill out all the paperwork as if it was a new purchase, but at least I didn't have to shell out more money!
The dealer gave me free access to the indoor range so i could test fire the weapon. The new pistol functioned flawlessly.0 -

Not a new ATF reversal, or at least that I know of. They replaced your pistol, so it couldn't have the same serial number as the last one, and it had to go thru the 4473, and NICS check.

Not to bash Taurus in particular, but most of the small .380s are either intrinsically unreliable, or require a good deal of break-in time before they become reliable.
In the NRA American Handgunner last year, gun author Wiley Clapp tested pretty much all of the small .380s out at that time, and found that **ALL** of them were malfunctioning out of the box to some extent, with the single exception being the $1100+ Rohrbaugh .380.

With respect to Taurus, I'll just say that I'd rather have a good gun than a good warranty, and leave it at that.0
