another gun ??? marlin 883 ss 22mag

i can get this one for $125 + 1100 223 brass and a box of vmax tips for a 223.

didn't find much info on the gun but some were up to $300+
anyone have any experience on this marlin , i have not had any luck with some of the other marlin 22mags ,
ones i have had was right on, on the first shot then drifted around from there

    If you want a Marlin, you better buy one. Marlin will be going out of business. They have been bought out by Remington for $42 million, and all the employees were pink slipped, and the factory will shut down by June of 2011. Doesn't that just really suck?

    Marlin made nice reasonable rifles. For $200 I would buy it.

    check your facts, marlin has been owned by remington(cerberus actually) for over 2 years. its not like this just happened this week and fired all of the employees.

    as to the 883 in question, it has been replaced by what marlin calls the 983, the only difference being the trigger group has been "upgraded", probaly to keep up with the savages with the accutrigger. a brand new 983 ss/laminated stock would be around 300 so if this one is in as nice a shape as it looks than 200 would be a pretty good buy.

    shootuadeal, which part of what I said is not true? I just found out on another forum. I guess I don't spend all day reading stuff I'd like to read, but still, what facts are not correct? Where in my post did I say that the purchase was recent? Where does my post say that the employees were fired on the spot? My post says pink slipped, which is what happened. There's a difference between being fired and being pink slipped.

    I had one that I sold to a buddy. One of those that I wish I still had. I put a Jard Trigger in mine and it is a tack driver. Nice little rifle. Great price.
