    This one is going to take a very detailed description and good close clear pictures. If there were any NIB 1911s left by 1941, it would be worth a heck of a lot of money, thousands of dollars. A NIB 1911A1 would not be worth as much, but still a lot.

    NIB? You got the box? How'd he pilfer that too?

    It is an 1911a1, I just pulled up my photos to check. I am trying to figure out how to add the photos to the message.

    This site doesn't allow posting of photos that are stored on individual computers/harddrives. Only photos that are transfered from from photo hosting sites.

    Very nice! Unfortunately the frame is a Ithaca made in 1944. This was quite common during that time frame when 3 different manufacturers were knocking out 1911 A1's as quickly as possible. When the pistols were issued from the unit arms rooms many were mismatched during the preliminary inspection and cleaning.

    Thank you for the info, my father is passed and I am working from memory. He only said that it was his issed sidearm which he never used, he carried an Army Colt 38 revolver. I am looking for a value, as I am selling off some items, no heirs.

    Even though it is mismatched it could still have a fair amount of value. Am I missing some pictures I see Rem Rand slide but don't see a serial # to identify as a Ithaca frame.

    The condition appears to be Excellent++, never used, never carried etc. NIB with the mismatched slide my WAG in the $800 - $1,200 range. Now is not the best of times to be selling anything though with the economy in the toilet. Best to wait a couple of years, till things hopefully turn around. A 1911A1 in the condition of yours, NIB with accessories will never lose value.

    The serial number is in the Remington Rand listing for the frame. The year is 1944.
    Very nice all original gun. Most of the new in box 1911a1 Remington Rands I have seen are for 1945 not 1944.
    If you look at the auction side that gun is work North of $ 2000.00. If you have professional pictures taken of the gun parts and all the Providence with it. It may go into the upper $ 2000.00s
    If you are going to sell it, and you are not comfortable taking it apart, contact a professional. It will save you from damaging the gun and with the right marketing bring the highest dollar amount.
