Welcome to the forum. Sounds like the basic AMT 380 ACP. It is ok. Some have feed problems with HP ammo...usually magazine related. There are better carry pistols now but in its day it was considered a good small carry pistol. As for price check the sold side of GB...sounds like it is in the ballpark...maybe a little high. 0 -
Don't buy it unless you can test fire with your carry ammo, using both magazines.
I had a couple of them years back, both were jamamatics. Trying to fix them to make them reliable was a pita. Their made of dead soft stainless steel castings, besides that the interior workmanship left a lot to be desired. Like 5mm said nowadays there are a lot better guns available for the money. Check out the KelTec P 3AT and it's Ruger clone, if your in the market for a small .380.0 -
Which one is it--the single action only or the double action only model? Some of them were not reliable some were. Most won't feed anything but FMJ just like 5mmgunguy said. I think $300 is about $50 too high IMO. 0 -
I had both the single and double action guns. I liked the single action better, but it did tend to jam. $300 sounds much. $200 would be a good deal if it cycles. 0 -
Treat it like a used car that may have been wrecked and bondo'd. It could work just great, but as posted you should test it out first and I'd say run at least 50 rounds through it. If the seller says no I wouldn't buy it. And I also think the price is at least $50.00 too high.
If it's the SA type there are some earlier versions that are a bit hard to find - can't keep my "OMC and AMT specifics straight - and may go for a bit more. But a plain old shooter is $200.00 to $250.00 max.0 -
As has been stated, the quality on these are lacking a bit. They are heavy for their size by today's standards. There are plenty of good 380's out there today...Kel-Tec, Ruger, and check out the new Diamond Back, it looks like a scaled down Glock.

dano, Have you fired it? I have wondered what that would be like. 0 -
For a "small" 45 cal pistol I think the S&W CW45 is better than the AMT. 0
