Angelo Zoli O/U question
I have the above gun in 12 gauge and when the bottom barrel is fired the safety goes on so that it has to be pushed back off in order to fire the top barrel. There is no selector to fire the top barrel first. I have several other O/U's some with automatic safeties, but once these are put in the off position both barrels can be fired. Is this the way this gun was built or does it have a problem?

There is a problem. You should be able to duplicate it by lightly tapping the butt on the floor to simulate recoil. I would remove the stock (take off the butt pad and remove the screw) and see if you can see the problem. Sounds like you might be missing the safety tension clip.0 -

Thanks for the replies guys. But, I have taken it apart and tweaked the safety spring a little to give it more tension in case it was allowing recoil to move the safety to the "on" position. (it is hard to imagine the recoil could move the safety to the rear). After doing this, I shot it again and it still does the same thing. Btw, it is an Angelo Zoli, no an Antonio Zoli and from what I can see in Numrich's schematic, they are made differently.
I'm hoping someone out there might have one of these and be able to tell me if theirs does the same thing.0 -
while you had it apart did you check the safety button itself ? an old gunsmith I grew up by once told me there is no fixing springs, you simply replace with a new one. 0 -

What else could it be besides recoil? If it wont do it when you dry fire it it has to be recoil. Did you try lightly dropping it butt first on a carpeted floor??
If broken, chances are you will not find someone else with the same problem. Again, it is not supposed to do this, what good is a double barrel without a quick follow up shot?0 -
i have has Zolis and it is not the way it is made...Have a GOOD smith look at it..
i don't suppose you could be doing it with your thumb? while firing,,,long shot I know but stranger things have happened to me.0
