K-31 Inspection

While surfing around on the net I found something on the K-31 that may require your attention if you own one. First, it only affects the later war year numbers. During WWII there was a shortage of good chromium nickel steel. The Swiss briefly resorted to the use of Chrome moly steel. The steel they used was substandard and they went about replacing it in the necessary points. {edit:}However, some didn't get the replacement parts.

In a past post I noted that I knew nothing of production changes except for the stock which went from walnut to beech. It is a good read and good pictures on what to inspect if you ended up getting a rifle that didn't have the mods made to it in the late '40's.

It is a suggested inspection and continuation of certain points on the K-31 rifle. My rifle does not need it as it post dates this issue (1951). But, it's still a good thing to do as the design could allow this to happen. Having done the inspection, and seeing no issues, I will continue to pound away with my K-31.
