French Walther

A friend has a French manufactured Walther in .32 Figured it was a commercial, but the frame has a Weimar eagle stamp on it just above the trigger. Hazard a guess on provenance? No pix right now.

    Walther licensed the French Manurhin arms manufacturung co. to produce their line of PP series guns because arms manufacturing was prohibited in Germany post WWII. Walther assembled the gun, put the German export mark on it and shipped it off.

    Manufacturer sounds right as I recall. So post war commercial? Figured it might be war period or prior to. Any guess on value? It's in excellent condition (90%+) I told him .380 PP's are going 350-400 or so. My guess would be a little less but not much $3-350?

    Thousands of Walthers in 7.65/32acp as well as P-1's came to this country in the 80's as the German police upgraded to the new wonder 9's.

    At one chain store, the Walthers went for $159 and the P-1's went for 189 with the holster, extra magazine, and cleaning accessories.

    I think that if you do a smart search on the auction side, you'll find a good many Walther/ Manurhin PPs to compare with. The .380 is more unusual that the .32.

    In good shape the "German/French" made pistols will sell for $400 to as much as $600. The newest .380 PP model, a commemorative, will sell for around $1000.
