Colt Service Model Ace assembly Problem

I am confused. To remove the slide stop, the slide must be moved to the REAR, not forward. The disassembly notch on the slide is to the REAR of the slide stop notch. The slide must be moved to the REAR far enough to allow the slide stop "lip" to line up with the disassembly notch so it can be removed. Either you have forward and rear or back confused (forward is the muzzle end, rear or back is the hammer end) or ..... I have no idea what you are talking about.

Assuming you do not know your back from your front and have your front and back reversed, try removing the barrel bushing to gain some "slack" between the barrel and the slide, which should help because the extractor (I assume that by "extractor rod" you mean the stamped extractor) fits in a notch on the left side of the chamber. With that slack, you should be able to push the slide BACK far enough to line up the slide stop with the disassembly notch to force the slide stop out, thus releasing the slide from the frame.
