Winchester Hotchkiss cannon round
I have an opportunity to purchase a Winchester Hotchkiss cannon round with the Date of 5-91 that would be 1891. The primer is intact and the round is a semi pointed round. Does not appear to be an explosive round. Are these legal to possess or would it have to be deactivated.

The HE ones have a flat tip brass fuse in the nose.
No problem owning it (unless it is a HE warhead).0 -
As long as it does not contain more than 1/4 ounce of explosive it is just a big heavy door stop, but "does not appear to be explosive" leaves room for doubt. 0 -
Be Careful VERY VERY careful A man that had bought & collected Civil war stuff for years and sold a bunch at gun shows Blew himself and half his house into vapor last year [xx(][:(][:I][:0]lived about one hour from me . I would not take a chance with your cannon round. 0 -
No brass tip, Looks like a solid almost practice round. I will go back and see if he still has it. Any Idea on a price to offer him?
Thank you for your help0
