I have a question about "Magna Porting"

for those of you who have ported magnum handguns, i know you can send it to the Magna Port folks, but can they send it back to me without going thru an FFL ?

mine goes a bit beyond a magnum, it is a .499LWR cartridge

    yes because it is your gun--it's the same as if you sent it to the factory for warranty work.

    An FFL is necessary to do a TRANSFER of a gun across State lines.

    You don't need an FFL to send a gun out for repair or modification, since you are still the legal owner of the gun.

    As a secondary matter, I'd be pretty shocked if Magnaport didn't have its own FFL!

    FYI, I have a MagnaPorted.44 Redhawk. My experience is that the procedure reduces jump but increases perceived muzzle blast. I would not have it on a gun I carried for self-defense. It would blind you in the dark.

    If i might ask...what do you have for a handgun chambered in this round? If it is an AR style, you can just take off the upper and send it. As mentioned, any time you port, it is the same as a muzzle brake, and it makes things really loud.

    the thingy on top is a rail for mounting a scope, if you can believe that. it is removeable, i took mine off.

    according to Magnum Research there were only 25 made, by special order for the original LWRC. what ever you may have heard about the most powerful production hand gun ever made this IS it !!

    oooooh !! i also have a couple of ARs chambered for this round.
