Worthing Arms DBBL 12 gauge
Anybody know anything about a Worthington Arms 12 gauge double barrel side by side hammer-less? Serial number is 211985.
Worthington was a hardware store in Cleveland Ohio until 1991. That is supposed to be where the original owner bought it.
My son in law gave it to me. He said his dad got it from a co worker back in the 60's. That guy was using it for hunting but my son in law and his dad have never fired it. There is a 6 on the barrel lug. He thinks this may be a model number but can't remember for sure.
There are no other marking on the gun. Not even gauge or shell size. Chambers measure for 2 and 3/4 inch shells.
I am planning on using it to shoot clay skeet or hunt squirrels. I can reload for either black powder or smokeless.

Three differant Makers making shotguns for Worthington..Made with Damascus Barrels and Steel Barrels..Have it checked by a competant gunsmith.. You don't want to shoot Smokeless Powder in a Damascus Barrel......0 -
You have already been given most of the information. Yes. Crescent Fire Arms Company of Norwich,CT made shotguns with the name WORTHINGTON ARMS and WORTHINGTON ARMS CO. for the George Worthington & Company of Cleveland.OH. That's what you gun appears to be and the serial number matches the serial number series given in my reference for Crescent made hammerless doubles. The gun was made in 1913. It was designed for both black powder and early low pressure smokeless powder ammo and lead shot. It was not designed for more modern high pressure smokeless powder ammo, 3 inch shells or magnum shells or steel shot. It will also have 2 3/4 inch chambers. These gun can still be fired with appropriate ammunition if in good condition. If you intend to shoot it, please have it checked out by a good and competent gunsmith first.
